Yes – the rink and ice are designed specifically for hockey.
3-on-3 style of play is a fast-paced fun style for smaller ice where the neutral zone has been eliminated. There are no refs, checking, and there is limited stop of play. Many players enjoy playing smaller sheets for the high puck contact and quicker play.
No, we do not offer public skating or skate rentals. Any announced public skating will be strictly a BYOS (bring your own skates) policy.

We work closely with the other rinks in town to help offer the Washington Capitals Future Caps program and HockeyU. More info and registration can be found here: RichmondGenerals.com/hockeyu.
We offer Adult Learn to Play programs in during our open season. These programs are for beginners only and are offered in 6-8 week sessions. Registration dates vary so check out Schedule page to learn more. More info can also be found on our Social Media pages or Newsletters.
Yes! We have just launched our own Adult Development Clinic that is offered throughout our operating months. This 6-8 week program is designed for beginners or returning skaters. The clinic will help you ease in or back in to the hockey world. More info can be found on our schedule page. Just look for Adult Development Clinic for dates and cost.
We currently do not offer our own youth hockey league. We partner with the Richmond Generals Youth Hockey League to offer them additional ice time. The Adult League in Richmond is called Hockey Nights in Richmond (HNIR). These games are not played at Powhatan Ice Den. HNIR has 6 divisions for all types of skill levels. More info can be found here: HNIR.net. Powhatan Ice Den recently started offering small 3v3 leagues 6 week seasons based on our ice availability. We follow an A, B, C, and D style of divisions. Each season may not offer each division. More info can be found on our schedule page or on our Social Media Pages.
No – we are not equipped or staffed to host birthday parties. You are welcome to book a private rental for group hockey events, but we do not offer skate rentals.
